Redmi’s entry level 8A is here. It replaces the Redmi 7A which was launched this year only and Xiaomi has added huge upgrades. The phone starts at Rs 6,500.
The 8A comes with a massive 5,000 mAh battery, a rarity in the budget segment. It also has 18W fast charging support. Xiaomi claims the new design called ‘Aura Grip’ helps prevent slipping and fingerprints.
Hardware-wise, the Redmi 8A has a 6.22-inch HD notched display with Gorilla Glass 5, Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor, 12MP dual PD autofocus at the rear, a 8MP AI selfie camera, AI face unlock but no fingerprint sensor. The phone also has P2i slash proof coating.
Here are the prices of Redmi 8A in India:
2GB RAM/32GB storage – Rs 6,499
3GB RAM/32GB storage – Rs 6,999
It comes in three colours – Midnight Black, Ocean blue and Sunset Red. The Redmi 8A will compete with Samsung Galaxy M10 and Realme C2 in India.
India is the first country to receive it. It will be available on Flipkart and mi.com from September 29.
