Berhampur: Baidyanathpur Police here have arrested two persons, including a staffer of Regional Institute of Education in Bhubaneswar, for allegedly cheating aspirants of Rs 50 lakh on the pretext of providing teaching jobs at the state-run institute.
They have been identified as Rabindra Behera (39) and his associate Arun Behera (40).
The duo had collected around Rs 50 lakh from as many as nine job aspirants during 2018-19, said SP (Berhampur) Pinak Mishra.
They were arrested on the basis of a complaint by a mother of two job aspirants of Krushna Nagar area. Incriminating articles and documents, besides bank passbooks, debit cards, tablets, mobile phones and cheque books of different banks, were seized during the house search on Sunday, sources said.
