Bhubaneswar: Registration process for Subhadra Yojana, a new flagship programme of the Odisha government for the welfare of women, officially started on Sunday.
As per the Women and Child Development department, application forms are now available at Anganwadi Centers, Block Offices, Municipal Offices, Mo Seva Kendras, and General Service Centers across the state.
In order to apply for the scheme, women aged between 21 and 60 years must submit their completed forms at the nearest Mo Seva Kendra or Jana Seva Kendra. Eligibility criteria include having an Aadhaar Card linked to a single-holder bank account (in the applicant’s name) that is active and capable of receiving direct cash assistance. Additionally, the beneficiary’s mobile number must be linked with their Aadhaar card.
The department has urged the public not to be swayed by any misleading information regarding the scheme. This initiative, a flagship program of the BJP government, was prominently featured during their poll campaign and aims to enhance the social and economic status of women in Odisha.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who holds the Women and Child Development portfolio, announced that the scheme is expected to benefit more than one crore women across the state. She said the application process, including form collection and submission, is entirely free of cost.
Adequate application forms have been distributed to all districts, ensuring availability for all potential beneficiaries as the registration process is underway.
The Deputy CM shared the details in a video message, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the empowerment of women through Subhadra Yojana, slated to be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday on September 17.
The beneficiaries will receive Rs 10,000 in their bank accounts in two instalments in a year under the scheme. The money will be credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day (March 8). They will get Rs 50,000 in five years under Subhadra Yojana.
The state government has issued a toll-free number – 14678 – for people to collect detailed information regarding the Subhadra Yojana in Odisha.
