Rekha V, a native of Chikkaballapura district of Karnataka, has stood out as a shining example of grit and determination to succeed in life.
About two years back, Rekha fled to Bengaluru from her village after her mother, who works as domestic help, forced her to get married.
Her aim was to pursue her dream and conquer new frontiers, come what may. Now, she has secured 90.3 per cent in the recently held intermediate examinations, according to a report in The Times of India.
“I lost my father when I was a kid. I left the house as I was against child marriage and wanted to continue my studies. Now, I have a clear goal in life. I want to become an advocate first and then appear for the civil services examination,” she told ToI.
At first, she joined a computer training centre at Hebbal, but soon realised it wasn’t her calling. She then called the child helpline 1098 seeking help in continuing her academic journey.
She said that the child welfare committee also helped her secure a seat in a Government PU College in Nelamangala, a town in Bengaluru rural district.
Rekha secured 542/600 in the board exams while scoring a hundred in History.
She now wants to pursue a BA in history, economics and political science.
We wish her all success in life.
