Release Date Of Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Jersey’ Pushed By A Week; Twitterati Call It ‘KGF’ Effect

Bhubaneswar: With the release of Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur-starrer Jersey being postponed once again, April 22 has started trending on Twitter. The sports drama will now release on April 22 making way for the K.G.F sequel to have a solo release on April 14.

The stakeholders reportedly took the call late last night, looking at the tight position of cinemas. “As a team, we have put our blood sweat and tears into ‘Jersey’ and would like our beloved film to reach all of you in the widest possible way. ‘Jersey’ will now release on 22nd April,” Producer Aman Gill said in a statement.

According to media reports, the film, which is a Hindi remake of the 2019 Telugu blockbuster of the same name, was slated for December 2021 release. The COVID pandemic delayed the further and the makers later announced April 14, 2022, as the release date. To avoid the clash with the much-awaited K.G.F sequel starring Kannada superstar Yash, the film has been pushed by a week and will now hit theatres on April 22.

Twitterati react:

KGF: Chapter 2, starring Yash, is scheduled to release on April 14, and Beast, starring Tamil superstar Vijay, on April 13.
