Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has launched its e-commerce venture – JioMart. The service is a new offline-to-online initiative and is intended to connect traders, producers and brands directly with customers.
Reliance is calling it “Desh Ki Nayi Dukaan” and will be rivaling existing e-commerce giants such as Amazon and Flipkart.
JioMart was soft launched in select areas near Mumbai on Tuesday and is expected to cover the country soon.
As part of the launch, Reliance is offering discounts to Jio customers. Currently, it has over 50,000 grocery products along with free home delivery on the JioMart app. There’s no minimum order value, express-delivery, and “no-questions-asked” return policy too.
The offline-to-online concept is similar to Alibaba in China.
