Bhubaneswar: With India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting thundershower in several parts of Odisha for next 5 days, people are likely to get a respite from the heatwave condition.
The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar on Friday issued yellow warning with a forecast that light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at few places in coastal, southern and western Odisha.
It further said heatwave condition has prevailed at one or two places in western parts of interior Odisha. The western parts of the state have been reeling under intense heat condition as mercury has gone up to 45 degree Celsius.
Following is the IMD forecast for next 5 days:
Day-1 (valid upto 0830 hrs IST of June 11)
Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sonepur. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.
Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of June 11 to 0830 hrs IST of June 12)
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj.
Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of June 12 to 0830 hrs IST of June 13)
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Bolangir, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.
Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of June 13 to 0830 hrs IST of June 14)
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore.
Day-5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of June 14 to 0830 hrs IST of June 15)
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput.
