Cuttack: The renovation work of Taldanda canal in the city will be taken up for irrigation purpose in November.
According to sources in Water Resources department, the Rs 30-crore project is expected to be completed by March, 2021. Initially, a 1.5-km stretch of the canal covering the Mahanadi, Jobra to Ranihat will be taken up.
The work to be implemented with German technology will reduce the construction time from one and a half years to three months, the sources said.
They further said water will recede by November. Since the construction of roads and illumination on both the embankments of the canal is over, the renovation work can be smoothly carried out, they added.
