Renowned Dubbing Artiste Of Odisha Passes Away

Cuttack: Well-known stage and dubbing artiste of Odisha Dipti Ranjan Mohanty passed away at his residence in Rausapatna here on Sunday night following a massive heart attack.

He was 51 and is survived by his wife Simanjali, daughter Riya and two sons Om and Mrutyunjaya. The last rites of Mohanty were performed at Swargadwar in Puri on Monday.

Family sources said Mohanty had undergone angioplasty in 2011.

Born at Rausapatana in Cuttack city, Mohanty had a penchant for stage acting from his school and college days.

He began his acting career from a street play ‘Bandakara Babu’ on a theme based on the tragic spurious liquor deaths in Cuttack district in the 90s. Later, he performed in a number of dramas as an artist of the Akashvani Kendra of All India Radio (AIR), Kala Vikash Kendra and Annapurna Theatre in Cuttack.

He rose to fame for his acting in a number of popular TV Odia serials like ‘Kahuthile Saribani’, ‘Maa’, ‘Adhikara’, ‘Topae Sindura’, ‘Dwanda’, ‘Bikrama Betala’ and ‘Pratibha’.

After acting in more than 25 Odia movies, Mohanty shifted his profession as a dubbing (voice-over) artiste.

He was the dubbing artiste for the well-known Bollywood actor Mithun Chakrabarty in the Odia film “E Jugara Krushna Sudama’ and Jackie Shroff in another Odia film ‘Daha Balunga’.

Apart from this, Mohanty has also lent his voice in about 400 films in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Chhattisgarhi languages.
