Puri: The repair work of Ratna Bhandra (treasury) of Jagannath Temple in Puri would start from December 17, Chief Administrator of SJTA Arabinda Padhee informed on Tuesday.
Speaking to mediapersons after a meeting of Chhatish Nijog in Puri on Tuesday, Padhee said the work would start at 1 pm after the ritual of Bhoga Mandap and would continue till 5-6 pm. The decision was taken at the meeting, he added.
“The repair work of the Lords’ treasury will not be carried out on Saturdays and Sundays and other special days. During the repair, the devotees will be allowed to have darshan of sibling deities inside the main temple from Bahar Katha (outer wooden gate),” Padhee said.
Besides, the ‘Pahuda’ (closing ritual) in the temple would be performed at 11.30 pm and ‘Dwaraphita’ (opening of main doors) at 2 am on the days of repair, he said adding that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has been told to complete the work within three months.
The repair would be carried out as per the SOP issued by the state government and after its completion, the ornaments of the Lords kept in a temporary treasury would be shifted and enumerated, the chief administrator said.
