Bhubaneswar: Google Maps, one of the top navigation apps in the world, has added a new feature that lets users reports accidents and cameras on their routes.
The feature is currently being rolled out on Android phones globally and is expected to come to iPhones in the near future.
We tested the feature in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. A dedicated button shows up on the screen only after navigation is started. It shows two options, to report a crash or mobile speed camera on your route. It also warns the user to report only if it is safe to report. The feature shows how many people have reported issues on your route.
This feature is on the similar lines as Waze, another popular navigation app. Waze, on the other hand, is more comprehensive and lets users report in non-navigation mode as well.
