Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has finalised arrangements for Republic Day celebrations on January 26 with the Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati scheduled to unfurl the National Flag and take the ceremonial salute at the state-level function in Bhubaneswar.
According to a notification issued by the Home Department on Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with deputy chief ministers, cabinet ministers, and other dignitaries, will lead flag-hoisting ceremonies across various districts to ensure widespread participation in the national event.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will preside over the celebrations in Cuttack. Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo has been assigned Koraput, while Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida will oversee the event in Khurda. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari
will lead the ceremony in Puri.
Similarly, Ministers Rabi Narayan Naik, Nityananda Gond and Krushna Chandra Patra will represent the government in Bargarh, Rayagada and Keonjhar respectively. Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling will take salute in Kandhamal, Commerce & Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena in Malkangiri and Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in Bhadrak.
Several Ministers of State with independent charge, including Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, Suryabanshi Suraj, Pradeep Bal Samanta, Gokulananda Mallik and Sampad Chandra Swain, will also attend Republic Day functions as chief guests at Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Sambalpur, Balasore and Boudh respectively.
In addition to ministers, Revenue Divisional Commissioners (RDCs) and Collectors have been assigned to oversee celebrations in Kendrapada, Berhampur, Rourkela, Angul, Balangir, Deogarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Subarnapur and Sundargarh districts.
In the event of any designated dignitary being unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances, the respective District Collector will step in to perform the ceremonial flag unfurling and take the salute, the notification added.
