Bhubaneswar: Prof Dipti Ranjan Sahoo, an engineering researcher from Odisha, has been selected for the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awards for 2022.
Sahoo is one among 12 scientists from across the country who have been selected for the prestigious award. Sahoo has been nominated for the award in Engineering category.
Serving as a Professor of Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi, Sahoo is also holding the post of Associate Dean (Infrastructure) at the institute. Before joining IIT-Delhi in 2010, Sahoo worked as Assistant Professor in the School of Infrastructure at IIT-Bhubaneswar.
Sahoo had passed Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology under Utkal University in Bhubaneswar in 2001 and then did his Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kanpur in 2003. He was awarded Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering by the institute in 2008.
A fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK), Institute of Engineers (India) and Indian Society of Earthquake Technology, Sahoo has published more than 250 research articles in the areas of earthquake and structural fire engineering among others.
Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award is named after first Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The CSIR presents awards to scientists and researchers in seven categories every year.
