Bhubaneswar: With several residents of Odisha stranded in war-torn Ukraine , the state government on Friday designated Resident Commissioner Ravi Kant as Nodal Officer for evacuation of stranded citizens.
In an order, the Home Department stated that Kant can be contacted on Mobile/Whatsapp-8527580245, Landline-011-23012751, E-mail-rc.odisha@gmail.com/resem-or@nic.in
A Special Assistance Cell has been made functional in the office of the Resident Commissioner of Odisha, Odisha Bhawan, to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Civil Aviation, and other concerned agencies.
Besides, working Odias, many students are also stranded in Ukraine and their parents back home are worried about their well-being.
Earlier, in the day Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had assured to bear the expenses of bringing back students and workers from the state who are stranded in Ukraine.
More than 1,500 students from Odisha are caught in Ukraine’s war zones, desperately awaiting evacuation.
The Chief Minister also spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah over telephone, requesting him to take urgent steps to bring back students and workers from Odisha stuck in Ukraine.
