Phulbani: Residents of two panchayats in Kandhamal district took to the streets on Saturday to protest the lack of basic amenities.
The basic amenities include uninterrupted power supply, water, proper drainage system, better roads and streetlights.
The locals of Mundakia and Petapanga panchayats staged a road blockade at Gutuguda Chhack here and complained that they have been bearing the brunt of bad roads and water-logging during rainy season due to poor drainage system.
“We demand have been demanding for fulfilment of our demands by the district officials since long, but the authorities paid no heed. The agitation will be intensified in the days to come, if the issues are not taken up immediately”, one of the protestors said.
Vehicular traffic between G.Udayagiri and Sarangad was badly affected for due to the blockade for a couple of hours.
