Puri: The district administration on Tuesday imposed restrictions on cremation of dead bodies from outside the district at Swargadwara in the town.
District Collector Balwant Singh said the decision has been taken in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions on cremation at Swargadwara will remain in force until the situation improves, he added.
Besides, the cremation ashes cannot be immersed in the sea in Puri, the collector said adding that the decision has been taken to protect the people from getting infected by the coronavirus.
