Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing, Bhubaneswar, has arrested three persons on charges of selling lands by forgery and impersonation.
The arrested have been identified as Haladhar Dash, Subadha Kumar Parida and Mamata Parida. While Haladhar and Subadha were apprehended on Wednesday, Mamata was nabbed on Thursday.
According to an EOW release, Lipika Das of Kendrapada had lodged a complaint, alleging that her 2000 sq ft land at Vasanta Vihar at Malipada Mouza in Khurda was sold to Haladhar Dash by someone who impersonated her before the Sub Registrar, Khandagiri.
Investigation revealed that Haladhar, a retired employee of BMC, purchased the land fraudulently with Subadha as a witness while Mamata impersonated the real owner by using a fake Aadhaar card during execution of the sale deed. Aadhaar, Voter ID cards and the mobile phone of Mamata have been seized.
The role of some other persons, including one Muhorir, is being investigated, it added.
