Sambalpur: A retired school headmaster, Khirod Kumar Nath, was found dead on railway tracks near Sindurpank in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Tuesday.
He was working as the headmaster of Tamperkela High School and retired on June 30, 2022.
According to sources, he is suspected to have ended his life by jumping in front of a speeding train. A note purportedly written by Nath was found near the body. The deceased held four of his former colleague – Subal Barik, Murari Prasad Patel, Jagdish Sahu and Sanjeev Patel – responsible for his decision to take the extreme step and wrote that they hatched a conspiracy to defame him.
His brother told the media that the people named in the letter are staff of the school from where he retired. “One among them is a clerk and Jagdish Sahu is the Hindi teacher and the other two are class teachers. They may have played foul with the paperwork because of which he ended his life,” he said.
Police have started an investigation into the incident.
