Jharsuguda: A retired Army Officer, Surendra Nath Pujari, was robbed of Rs 1.83 lakh in Odisha’s Jharsuguda in broad daylight on Thursday.
The incident took place between Laikera and Kirmira Road while he was returning home on his two wheeler from the bank after withdrawing his fixed deposit.
According to sources, two bike-borne miscreants approached him, saying that he had dropped his money. When Pujari got down from the bike to inspect, the miscreants snatched the bag containing the cash and fled. Pujari tried to chase but could not catch them. He later lodged a complaint with police.
