Retired IAS Officer’s House Ransacked, Looted In Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Burglars ransacked the ancestral house of a retired IAS officer and looted valuables including gold ornaments and cash in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.

As per preliminary information, the robbers entered the building through a window and looted the house of retired officer, identified as Bijay Nayak, at Budanga village under the jurisdiction of Tihidi police station late on Sunday night.

The occupants of the house were reportedly not at home when the robbery took place.

Sources said Bijay Nayak and his family live in their ancestral house, along with a tenant, but had been away for 2-3 days attending a program. During their absence, burglars broke into the house by twisting open the metal grills and looted valuables.

The tenant was also away from the house when the robbery took place. On return, the tenant found that the house had been looted and the thieves stole gold worth Rs 1.5 lakh, at least Rs 20,000 in cash, an inverter, and a TV.

After getting information, the Tihidi police visited the spot and initiated a probe. Authorities have since dispatched a scientific team to investigate the matter further, said a senior police official.
