Nabarangpur: A retired police officer was found hanging from a tree at Senapati Sahi in Nabarangpur district on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Premchand Bagh (62), a retired additional sub-inspector.
According to sources, some locals spotted the body of Bagh hanging from a tree and informed the police.
On being informed, IIC of Nabarangpur police station Bhim Sena Nayak and ASI Khirasindhu Sahoo reached the spot and seized the body.
It was later sent for postmortem.
The exact reason which prompted Bagh to take the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
However, the police have started investigating the matter.
