Puri: Fear of return of bird flu gripped Odisha’s Puri district as hundreds of chickens in different poultry farms died.
According to sources, the poultry birds in the farms in Krushnaprasad block of the district have died in rising number for the last five days. Though the cause of their death has not been ascertained, the farm owners fear the bird flu might have returned the district.
No official confirmation has been made on the bird flu though the authorities were looking into the matter to ascertain, the sources said.
It may be noted that bird flu broke out in Pipili and Delang blocks of the district in September last year, leading the government to clamp three-month ban on poultry farming.
Later, Nimapara and Satyabadi in the districts also came under the grip of the disease.
