Mumbai: Team India cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal will be paying Rs 4.75 crore to his estranged wife, choreographer Dhanashree Verma.
Bar and Bench on Wednesday reported that out of Rs 4.75 crore, Rs 2.37 crore has already been paid to Dhanashree.
Earlier, multiple reports claimed that Dhanashree had sought Rs 60 crore in alimony from Chahal. However, Dhanashree’s family clarified that the choreographer never asked for any alimony from the cricketer.
“We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. Let me be absolutely clear—no such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumours whatsoever. It is deeply irresponsible to publish such unverified information, dragging not just the parties but also their families into unnecessary speculation. Reckless reporting like this only causes harm, and we urge the media to exercise restraint and fact-check before spreading misinformation and also be respectful towards everyone’s privacy,” the statement read.
Yuzvendra and Dhanashree got married in 2020. However, the couple fell out of love and started living separately from early 2024.
The final hearing in the divorce case will be held on March 20.
