Bhubaneswar: A Revenue Inspector (RI) and another person were apprehended by Vigilance sleuths for allegedly accepting Rs 3,300 bribe from a man to issue sketch map of a land for PMAY beneficiaries in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Tuesday.
The accused were identified as Damodar Suna, RI in Dahita Circle of Padmapur Tehsil, and Somadev Banchhor, a private person.
The RI was allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 3,300 through Banchhor from a complainant to issue sketch map of land to an extent of Ac.0.02 decimal for a group of beneficiaries under PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana), a Vigilance release said.
The complainant approached Vigilance through toll free No. 1064 and reported the demand of bribe. After due verification, a trap was laid and the two accused were nabbed by the Vigilance team while accepting bribe from the complainant.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of accused RI from Disproportionate Assets angle.
A case has been registered under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against the two and investigation is in progress.
