Revenue Inspector Caught By Odisha Vigilance While Taking Rs 5K Bribe


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended a Revenue Inspector of Tudigadia under Khaira Tehsil of Baleshwar district for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a man in a land mutation case.

The accused, identified as Sarat Kumar Sethy, was caught while taking Rs 5000 from an applicant for submitting favourable field enquiry report in a mutation case and to facilitate for issuance of ROR (Land Patta) in favour of his grandfather.

A Vigilance statement said the applicant had applied for the mutation of his ancestral land to acquire ROR. However, Sethy was delaying the process for no reason. When the applicant contacted him, the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 to process the mutation case.

Irked by the demand, the applicant approached the vigilance authorities. Upon receiving the information, a team of Vigilance nabbed Sethy in his office room while taking Rs 5,000 from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Sethy and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations connected to Sethy from Disproportionate Assets angle. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and investigation is in progress.
