Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended Nrusingha Charan Rout, Revenue Inspector of Goda under Ersama tehsil of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, while allegedly accepting Rs 6,000 bribe.
According to sources, he had demanded the illegal gratification to submit the enquiry report in a mutation case in favour of the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from him.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to Rout to ascertain whether he accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A case under Section 7 of Prevent of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, has also been registered at Cuttack Vigilance police station against him and further investigation is underway, the sources added.
