Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended Pramod Kumar Behera, Revenue Inspector, JN Prasad Circle of Jaganath Prasad Tehsil in Ganjam district, while allegedly accepting 5,000 bribe.
Another man, identified as Bidyadhar Pradhan, was also nabbed in connection with the offence.
According to official sources, Behera and Pradhan had demanded the illegal gratification from a person to demarcate a plot recorded in the name of his grandfather. The entire bribe amount was recovered and seized from them.
Currently, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to Behera to ascertain whether he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is underway.
