Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended Suraj Chandra Bala, Revenue Inspector (RI) of Motu Circle under Motu Tehsil in Malkangiri district, while allegedly accepting Rs 15,000 bribe.
According to an official release, Bala had demanded the illegal gratification from the complainant for issuing notice for appearance in an encroachment case registered against the latter. The entire bribe money was recovered from the accused and seized.
While a case under Section 7 of PC (Amendment) Act has been registered, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to the RI to ascertained whether he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, it added.
