New Delhi: Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra will succeed Shaktikanta Das as governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet said in a statement on Monday that Malhotra will take charge on Wednesday for a tenure of three years.
A 1990-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Rajasthan cadre, Malhotra is a Computer Science graduate from IIT-Kanpur. He also has a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Princeton University, US.
In a career spanning over 33 years, Malhotra has worked in multiple sectors like power, finance and taxation, information technology, mines.
Before being appointed Revenue Secretary, he was Secretary in the Department of Financial Services.
