Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will publish the revised electoral roll for elections to urban local bodies (ULBs) in the capital city on February 24.
According to sources, the BMC and the office of additional district magistrate (ADM) received around 300 complaints alleging discrepancies after the publication of the draft voter list. Around 7.27 lakh eligible voters were mentioned in the draft voter list of 67 wards.
It was alleged that the names of voters from one ward had figured in another in several cases. Following the complaints, the revised electoral draft was prepared by rectifying the ward number of over 20,000 voters.
After revision of the list, the number of voters in ward 33 went up to around 9,000 from 1,784, TNIE quoted sources in the ADM office as saying.
Similarly, thousands of voters from ward 6 whose names had figured in the lists of other wards have been added to the electoral roll of their own ward.
