Mumbai: Actor Rhea Chakraborty shared a cryptic post after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB told the Supreme Court that it was not challenging the bail granted to her by the Bombay High Court in connection with a drugs-related probe linked to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Taking to her Instagram stories, the actor shared a video of herself and wrote, “Gratitude (sic),” with folded hands emoji.
While hearing the NCB’s petition against the Bombay High Court order granting bail to Rhea, the bench of Justices AS Bopanna and MM Sundresh on Tuesday took note of the Additional Solicitor General SV Raju’s submission on a change in the anti-drugs agency’s stand on her bail, but clarified that the HC judgement shall not be treated as precedent in any other case.
The ASG had prayed the top court to keep the interpretation of Section 27-A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act open for consideration.
Rhea was charged under this stringent section which pertains to “financing and harbouring illegal drug trafficking”. She was arrested on September 8, 2021, and got bail a month later, on October 4, 2021, as the High Court then observed that simply paying for a particular drug transaction does not qualify as financing drug traffic.
