RI Caught Taking Rs 20K Bribe In Tree Felling Case In Odisha’s Khurda

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended Revenue Inspector (RI) of Siko under Begunia Tehsil in Khurda district, Bisweswar Ray Behera, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.

According to a Vigilance release, the accused had demanded the illegal gratification by threatening action against the complainant for cutting a tree on government land. The RI was nabbed while accepting the bribe money and the entire amount was seized from him.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to Ray Behera to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A case has been registered under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is underway, it added.
