Cuttack: A revenue inspector allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in a tehsil office in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Tuesday.
As per reports, the revenue inspector (RI) of Tarat Sasan under Nischintakoili tehsil in the district, Sanjay Das, had come to the tehsil office in connection with official work. He had gone to the local market to have tea at around 5 pm.
Later, some officials of the tehsil office found him hanging with a rope from the ceiling of the record room in the building and informed the police.
Nischintakoili tehsildar Dillip Nayak along with a police team went to the spot. The police retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Though it has not been ascertained why the RI took the extreme step, his daughter Subhalaxmi Das told the media that her father was under mental pressure after he was transferred to another place recently. But the cause of the RI’s suicide would be known after police investigation.
