Bargarh: Five persons, including a sarpanch and a revenue inspector (RI), have been arrested in connection with the issue of fake caste certificate under Bhatli police limits in Odisha’s Bargarh district.
Those arrested are RI of Sukuda revenue circle Sandip Satapathy, sarpanch of Dumelpali in Bhatli block Manoranjan Dora, and Uttar Pradesh natives Veerpal Singh, Bablesh Kumar and Ravi Kant.
According to police sources, the three accused from UP approached the sarpanch for fake residential and caste certificates and also offered him some money for the same. The sarpanch attested their form and later the RI also verified it and issued a caste certificate to them. The trio was first nabbed by Bhatli police, probing the issue. Their questioning revealed involvement of the RI and the sarpanch and they too were arrested. Fake caste certificates, residential certificates and mobile phones were seized from their possession.
