Mumbai: Actress Richa Chadha has voiced support for the anti-CEC protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, sharing a makeup tutorial on social media in a post about evading facial recognition. She also urged Delhi residents to participate in the demonstration in large numbers.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Richa pointed to reported restrictions on routes into the capital, suggesting that people travelling from outside Delhi might struggle to reach the protest site.
“So many restrictions on the border and locomotives etc, means baahar wale (outsiders) people can’t come into the central part. But those who live in the city should go in large numbers. Carry water. Wear a mask, cap, shades… walk ❤️ (They’re counting on you NOT showing up. Prove them wrong) Ooh ! Don’t miss the make-up tutorial 😉,” she wrote alongside the video.

Richa is among several members of the film fraternity who have expressed support for the CJP’s demonstration.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap also weighed in on the issue, sharing a social media post that read, “Do darpok, 40,000 gulaam, lakhon bahadur (Two cowards, 40,000 slaves, lakhs of courageous people).”
Actor Prakash Raj, who had participated in an earlier protest in Mumbai, questioned the government’s response to public dissent. “How long will you escape from Citizens dissent #justasking,” he wrote on X.
Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane has also voiced support for the demonstration, while filmmaker Apurva Asrani reacted to the detention of CJP leaders, describing it as the “death of democracy.”
Singer Vishal Dadlani, meanwhile, criticised the government’s reported deployment of security personnel in Delhi to restrict protests, raising questions about security arrangements in sensitive regions such as Jammu and Kashmir.
Ahead of the demonstration, Delhi Police detained CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after they arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Separately, All India Students’ Association (AISA) national president Neha Bora was also detained while protesting at Dilli Haat (INA).
