New Delhi: It will be Rishabh Pant, and not KL Rahul, who will walk out for the toss at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium ahead of the second T20 International against South Africa. IPL-winning captain Hardik Pandya was named Pant’s deputy.
Rahul, who was named Team India’s stand-in captain – in place of the rested Rohit Sharma — for the T20I series against South Africa, was on Wednesday ruled out of the five matches because of a groin injury, BCCI announced a day before the series-opener at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Kuldeep Yadav will also miss the T20I series after getting hit on his right hand while batting in the nets on Tuesday evening, BCCI tweeted.
Rahul had sustained a hamstring injury in February also, ruling him out of the three-match T20I series against the West Indies.
