Rishi murder case: Mother seeks CM’s intervention alleging tardy probe

Bhubaneswar: Mother of engineering student Ashutosh Mohanty alias Rishi, who died under mysterious circumstances in May last year, on Tuesday requested Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to order a CBI probe into the case.

In her letter to the Chief Minister, Preetirani Mohanty said, “A year has passed since my son’s death, but it seems the police have slowed down the investigation process. They are yet to determine the exact cause behind the death.”

On July 3, the Orissa High Court had asked Commissionerate Police to submit the case diary of the case after Rishi’s friend Anurag knocked on its door.

However, preliminary investigation revealed that he had died due to excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs.
