Bhubaneswar: Rituals at Lord Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar were disrupted on the first Monday of the holy month of Shravan, leaving thousands of devotees disappointed.
According to information, the daily rituals of Lors Lingaraj remained suspended since Sunday evening following a dispute between Pujapanada and Badu servitors over the distribution of money collected from Bol Bom devotees.
Though Badu sevaks reached the shrine in the morning and performed their designated rituals, the Pujapanda sevayats remained absent. As a result, the morning rituals could not be performed at the temple, sources said.
On the other hand, a massive crowd of Bol Bom devotees was witnessed at the temple amid chants of Har Har Mahadev. Devotees who had come from far and wide were left with no option but to offer only holy water without the traditional full-fledged worship.
It may be noted that the first Monday of the holy month of Shravan is considered highly auspicious for Lord Shiva worship. It is believed that devotees who perform jalabhishek at Shiva temples on Shravan Mondays are blessed with good luck, health, happiness and prosperity.
