Priyanka Gandhi Trolled For Attacking Her Own Party In Parliament [Watch]

New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra committed a faux pas while speaking in Parliament on Friday.

During a debate on the Constitution, the Congress leader ended up criticising her own party as she pulled up the Himachal Pradesh government for policies allegedly favouring big businesses over farmers.

“The country’s farmers are at the mercy of the Gods. They’ve been left alone. In Himachal today, whatever laws are being made are all made to favour top businessmen. The apples that were grown in Himachal by small farmers, they are left crying. Because everything is being changed for one person,” first-time MP Priyanka said in her maiden speech in Parliament.

As the video clip went viral on social media, netizens pointed out that the Himachal government is currently run by Congress, with Sukhvinder Singh being the chief minister.

The BJP didn’t waste time in mocking the Wayanad MP.

“Priyanka Gandhi criticized the Himachal Pradesh government, seemingly unaware that her own party, the Congress, is in power there. This isn’t driven by any noble intent — it’s just another example of her lack of awareness, much like her brother Rahul Gandhi. The political circus has only just started,” BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya posted on X.

The trolls continued to roll, with some netizens comparing her with brother Rahul Gandhi who was nicknamed ‘Pappu’ for his occasional blunders.

“Priyanka Gandhi attacked the Himachal Pradesh government without realizing that it was her own party in Power. She is a bigger Pappu than Pappu himself,” one user wrote.

Another commented, “Priyanka Gandhi slams Himachal, forgetting it’s a Congress-ruled state! Is Congress turning against itself now?”

“Can somebody pls remind Priyanka Vadera that Himachal Pradesh is being (mis)ruled by Congress?” wrote one person.

The backlash overshadowed other points Priyanka made in her speech as she criticised the BJP government over its handling of reservation policies and attempts to privatise public sectors.

Rahul was impressed, and said it was a ‘wonderful’ speech.

“Better than my maiden speech… let us put it that way,” the Leader of Opposition said.
