RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav Falls From Stairs, Hospitalised

New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has been admitted to Paras Hospital in Patna, Bihar. He tripped and fell a flight of stairs at his house on Sunday, resulting in a minor fracture in his shoulder and a back injury.

Early on Monday, Lalu was admitted to Paras Hospital where he is undergoing treatment. The 74-year-old RJD supremo, who is suffering from several health complications, was readmitted to AIIMS, Delhi, earlier this year after his condition deteriorated.

Lalu Prasad Yadav returned to Patna from Delhi in October last year after almost 3.5 years. He had been sick for nearly six months before that and was in Delhi after his release from jail in April. He was incarcerated in December 2017 after being convicted in the fodder scam. He was recuperating at Delhi’s AIIMS.

The High Court of Jharkhand granted him bail on April 22, in the Rs 139.35-crore Doranda Treasury case related to the fodder scam.

A special CBI court in Ranchi had in February held RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad guilty of fraudulent withdrawals from Doranda Treasury in connection with the fifth fodder scam case.
