Balangir: Police have arrested a married man, working in Indian Railways, for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl in Odisha’s Balangir district.
According to police sources, the 16-year-old girl, who studies in a college at Muribahal in the district, had gone missing on December 9. Her father had filed a complaint in the local police station.
During investigation into the case, the police traced the girl to Kesinga town. A police team rescued the minor girl from a house of the Indian Railways. The girl told the police that Ghanshyam Bhoi, who works as a Gangman in the Railways, had kidnapped her and kept her there.
Later, the police traced 47-year-old Ghanashyam, belonging to Mursunda village under Loisingha police station, and arrested him. Further investigation was on, the sources said.
The IIC of Muribahal police station said they had forwarded Ghanshyam to POCSO Court at Balangir. After the court rejected his bail application, the accused was sent to jail.
