Bhubaneswar: Roop Narayan Sunkar assumed charge as new general manager of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) in Odisha capital on Monday.
An officer of Indian Railway Service of Engineering (IRSE) of 1985 batch, Sunkar was working as Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) of South East Central Railway (SECR) at Bilaspur prior to the new posting. He also worked as Chief Project Director (CPD)/Bridge Work in West Central Railway, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM)/Ratlam, Chief Bridge Engineer in North Central Railway & West Central Railway, Chief Engineer (Construction) at Bilaspur.
An Engineering graduate from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, Sunkar has vast experience in construction and commissioning of projects. He was involved in commissioning of 228 km of Railway projects during 2020-21. He has also completed LLB from Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur, Post-Graduate Diploma in Environment and Sustainable Development and Post-Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi.
