Bhawanipatna: ‘Nuakhai’ festivities turned tragic for the families of two jawans killed in a road accident on NH 26 near Kokasara Police Station late on Saturday.
A civilian also sustained grievous injuries in the mishap.
Among the deceased, one was an India Reserve Battalion (IRB) jawan and the other a Homeguard constable. The injured was admitted to a nearby hospital. All three are native of Pandri pakhana village under Jaipatra panchayat in Chasiguda block, the sources said.
The accident took place while the trio on a motorcycle tried to overtake a bus. They were on their way home to celebrate ‘Nauakhai’ festival.
Police have seized the bus and investigation is on.
