Koraput: In a tragic incident, four students were killed after a truck rammed into the car in which they were travelling near Coffee Board on National Highway-26 in Koraput district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Rajeev Patra, his brother Ruben Patra, S Jayashree and Niharika Bhanja, all students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Koraput.
According to sources, the accident took place when they were returning home after attending a feast in their school.
Rajeev, who was driving the car with registration number OD 10D 6578, reportedly died on the spot. Critically injured Niharika, Jayashree and Ruben were rushed to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital. While the girl students succumbed to their injuries during treatment, Ruben was referred to a private hospital in Visakhapatnam when his condition deteriorated. However, he died while being shifted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, police reached the spot, seized the car and started investigation.
