Kendrapara/Bhadrak/Cuttack: Two persons were killed and nine injured in three separate road accidents in Odisha on Monday.
In Kendrapara, one person died on the spot after a speeding truck hit a van in which he was travelling at Tikarpanga in Kendrapara on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Golak Mohanty, a resident of Tikarpanga.
Seven other persons sustained injuries in the accident as the van got completely mangled in the crash.
On being informed police reached the spot and admitted the injured to Marsaghai community health centre (CHC). They were later shifted to the district headquarters hospital as their condition deteriorated.
In Bhadrak, a person was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Dhamara port gate late on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Kartik Bhuiyan of Balabhadraprasad area. The accident took place when he returning home last night.
Following the incident, locals blocked Dhamara-Basudevpur road near Balabhadrapur Chhak demanding compensation for the bereaved family.
On being informed, police reached the spot to pacify the agitators.
In another accident, driver and helper of a truck were critically injured after the vehicle fell off a bridge into a canal near Manguli Chhak at Choudwar of Cuttack district early this morning. They have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
