Balasore/Boudh: Three persons died in separate road accidents in Balasore and Boudh districts in the early hours of Friday.
Two persons, including a woman, were killed after being run over by a speeding truck near Dandakali temple on NH-16 in Soro block of Balasore district
Sources said a Bhubaneswar-bound private bus from Udala had halted near a tea stall near the Dandakali temple at around 2 am. A speeding truck, coming from the opposite direction, hit a stationary chips-laden truck killing the driver on the spot. The truck later ran over a woman, who along with other passengers, was having tea. Besides, one passenger sustained grievous injuries.
On being informed, Khantapada police reached the spot and admitted the injured passengers to the district headquarters hospital.
In another incident, a man was killed after he lost control of the bike which hit a roadside drain near Purunakatak town on NH-57 in Boudh district in the early morning hours.
Police sources said the deceased, Bhagirathi Sethi of Rambhikata village under Purunakatak police limits, was on the way to Charichhak when he lost control of the bike which hit a roadside drain near Purunakatak town. He was rushed to the community health centre (CHC) at Purunakatak where the doctors declared him as ‘brought dead’.
