Road Mishap Claims Engineering Student’s Life In Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: In a tragic road accident, an engineering student died on the spot and another sustained serious injuries when a speeding truck hit their motorcycle at Kanjipani Ghati in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Om Prakash Nayak of Kusumi village under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district. He was a student at Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) at Sarang in Dhenkanal.

According to sources, six persons including Nayak and his friend, both students of IGIT, were going on three separate motorcycles to offer puja at Maa Tarini temple in Ghatagaon of Keonjhar.

As they were travelling in the ghat road of Kanjipani, a truck hit the motorcycle of Nayak and his friend. While Nayak died on the spot, his friend sustained serious injuries.

Others travelling with them with the help of the locals admitted Nayak’s friend in a nearby health facility.

On being informed, a team from Keonjhar police station went to the spot and sent Nayak’s body for post-mortem. They also registered a case and started investigation.
