Puri: A tea stall owner served snacks and tea for free on the occasion of 72nd birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Odisha’s Puri town on Saturday.
Akshay Jaysingh, the owner of Jaysingh Tea Shop near Urban Cooperative Bank at Town Hall square in the town, has been celebrating the prime minister’s birthday since 2014.
Akshay has decorated his shop with a welcome gate having photographs of the prime minister in front of the shop and also the sign board. He started the day with cutting a cake and distributing ‘Rasagola’ among the customers to celebrate the birthday of Modi. Besides, he served tea for free to whoever came to his shop throughout the day.
“Akshay has been celebrating Modi’s birthday at his shop every year since 2014. He cuts a cake in presence of prominent persons of the locality and distributes ‘rasagola’ besides serving tea free of cost as a mark of his love and respect for the prime minister on the occasion,” said a customer.
“I have never seen anybody celebrating the birthday of any prime minister in Puri town in my 70 years of life,” said another customer.
“Since the prime minister himself used to sell tea in his childhood, I feel proud to be a tea stall owner. Motivated by his dedication and achievement, I celebrate his birthday every year. I wish him long life so that he would continue to servie the country,” said Akshay.
