Bhubaneswar: Striking with audacity, robbers reportedly uprooted and took away an entire cash dispensing machine from a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM kiosk at Sriram Nagar in Odisha capital.
As per preliminary information, the robbers uprooted the entire machine from the kiosk located under the jurisdiction of Airfield police station and took it in an auto-rickshaw on Thursday night.
However, the robbers dumped the machine near Gangua canal in Samantarapur after they apparently failed to break it open. The exact amount of cash inside the compromised ATM was yet to be ascertained.
After getting information, a team from Airfield police station rushed to the site and recovered the machine which was in a bad shape as the miscreants had apparently caused considerable damage while trying to access the money inside.
The auto-rickshaw, believed to have been used by the robbers, was also retrieved near the site. The auto-rickshaw is also suspected to have been stolen from another place.
The police have launched a thorough investigation to apprehend those involved in the crime.
The authorities have appealed to the public for providing any information that could help in the investigation.
