Bargarh: A robbery attempt was foiled at the main branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Odisha’s Bargarh town following quick action by local residents and security guard.
As per information, a man snatched more than Rs one lakh from the bank counter and was trying to run away when locals caught hold of him and informed the police.
After capturing the robber, the locals reportedly thrashed him before he was handed over to the police on their arrival at the scene.
While the accused was taken into custody, the police have launched a thorough investigation to ascertain if the robber was alone or others were involved in the incident.
Sources said the incident took place when a customer had just deposited Rs 77,000 at the counter. The accused swiftly appeared at the counter and snatched the money. As the accused was running away, the customer and others, including the guard and staff chased and overpowered him outside the bank.
